Question: Homebase climbing rose 'London Bridge' is it known by any other name?
I bought three scented orange climbing roses from Homebase - it says on the label that they are a variety called 'London Bridge' - but I can't find anything about this variety on the internet... was it known by another name at one point? I always like to know the background to my plants - who discovered them and when etc. If I can't find out I may have to take a clipping and flower in the Summer over to the RHS gardens at Wisley and let their supersleuths loose onto it!!! I have planted each of the roses in the centre of an 8 feet high obelisk along with a huge blue flowered clematis to twine around it - hopefully will look quite dramatic!

Beewiselet I don't know a rose called London Bridge, but there is one called Tower Bridge. This, however, is a deep pink, so probably not what you are looking for. There is an orange, or at least apricot coloured, scented climbing rose called the Bridge of Sighs, bred by Harkness. This might be yours. Your roses should look absolutely gorgeous with blue clematis - post us a picture when they flower.
Re: Homebase climbing rose 'London Bridge' is it known by any other name?
Hello. I recently purchased a London Bridge climbing rose from homebase. I had the same difficulty finding information. Were you able to discover if it is known by another name?
Re: Homebase climbing rose 'London Bridge' is it known by any other name?
Hi mirendajean - First off, welcome to the forums! We're glad to have you. :)
Secondly, I couldn't find any information either. So very weird! Perhaps there is a Latin name for the rose on tag or pot of the rose? If not that, maybe any other information on the tag? Time to play detective!
Let me know what you find out and I'll be glad to help you get down to the bottom of this.

Mirenda Jean - I was hoping you could post a photo of the roses you bought so I could do a bit more research for you! If you would like, please send a snap shot of your flowers my way. :)
Re: Homebase climbing rose 'London Bridge' is it known by any other name?
Thanks for the replies. I checked the label - it doesn't list a latin name. I checked the homebase website but the information listed for London Bridge is incorrect.
I just purchased the bush last week. It's still a three cane baby. I suspect that I won't get many blooms this year.
I'm looking forward to putting London Bridge in the ground tomorrow but I wish I had more information.

Hi Mirenda -
I'm still looking for the exact name of that rose varietal. In the meantime, here is a little blurb about the rose which I found on our site. Hope it helps satisfy some of your curiosity!
